Matthew Nigh, of Plainfield, was selected to receive one of two 2016 National FFA Scholarships sponsored by Riesterer & Schnell.
The scholarship is worth $2,000 toward the 2016-2017 academic school year.
Nigh will graduate from Tri-County Area High School in May as the valedictorian of his class of 46 with a 4.0 GPA. He plans to pursue a degree in Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in Platteville, Wis. With his degree, Nigh hopes to pursue a career as an engineer.
Nigh has been a member of the Tri-County High School FFA Chapter for four years. He served as an officer in his chapter as well as at the local level. In his scholarship statement, Nigh said, “I would like to express my appreciation for choosing me for a scholarship. This scholarship will help me to further my education goals. This scholarship will then also directly help me to achieve my goals in terms of my future career by providing me with a very necessary education.”
Nigh is the son of George and Tonya Nigh.
