DPF Regen Process

Your machine is equipped with an emission compliant engine, which cleans and filters the engine exhaust. Under normal machine operation and with system in Automatic (AUTO) mode, the system requires minimal operator interaction. Please read the Exhaust Filter Cleaning sections of your owner's manual to understand when and where operator interaction may be required.

Parked Regeneration Instructions

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! If operator disregards indicators and continues to operate machine without allowing an automatic cleaning, engine performance is reduced and machine function limited. A parked regeneration procedure must be performed.

The following occurs when exhaust filter becomes restricted:

  • TechControl alert with DTC 3719.16 becomes active.
  • Engine power is reduced and machine function limited.

Currently, a parked exhaust filter cleaning is required.

Before completing a parked exhaust filter cleaning, the following criteria must be met:

  • Engine running at low idle.
  • Coolant temperature must be above 60° C (140° F).
  • Park brake must be engaged.
  • PTO must be turned off.

1. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! No other machine functions are able to be used while regeneration is taking place with the machine parked. Excluded are functions that are required for an emergency shutdown of the machine.

  • Do not start regeneration if the fuel gauge has been showing a low fuel level for a long time.
  • Only stop engine if necessary due to heat build up in the engine compartment.

NOTE: When the previous criteria are met, the parked regeneration icon (A) blinks indicating parked regeneration can be initiated.

Press and hold button 1 under the parked regeneration icon (A) on TechControl DPF status screen for 5 seconds.

NOTE: If cancellation of parked regeneration is necessary, your best option is to depress button 4 under icon (B) on the TechControl DPF status screen.

2. During parked regeneration process, the high exhaust temperature icon with progress bar appears on the TechControl DPF status screen as shown.

3. The engine speed elevates to 2200 rpm.

4. After completion of parked regeneration process, the system defaults to auto regeneration mode and the machine operates as normal.

NOTE: If not returning machine to operation, allow engine time to return to normal operating temperature before stopping engine.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! If operator disregards indicators and continues to operate machine without allowing a parked regeneration, engine performance is reduced and machine function limited. A recovery regeneration procedure by a John Deere dealer is required.
