Polly’s Pumpkin Patch: A Century Farm Powered by John Deere All Year Long

For Polly and Gary, owners of Polly’s Pumpkin Patch in Chilton, Wisconsin, farming is more than a business: it’s a legacy. As a century farm that’s been open to the public for 22 years, Polly’s Pumpkin Patch has become a fall favorite for families across the region. But behind the scenes, it’s their fleet of John Deere equipment that keeps the operation running smoothly, every season of the year.

Fall Attractions, Deere Dependability

From mid-September through Halloween, Polly’s Pumpkin Patch transforms into afestive destination. With a 17-acre corn maze, a petting zoo, hay rides, and a snack shack nestled in the maze, the farm welcomes families, school groups, nursing homes, and corporate events daily, weather permitting.

To support the fall rush, Polly and Gary rely heavily on their John Deere equipment. The 5050E is used for raking hay to prepare parking areas, fertilizing each plant, handling smaller spraying jobs, and hauling pumpkins in a front-mounted bin. The 5125R plays an equally important role, taking on strip tilling, planting, spraying, and moving bales. It even helps relocate small buildings like the snack shack. The 3046R is a perfect fit for Polly to operate herself. It’s used for rotary tilling to maintain the maze after it’s cut, small spraying jobs inthe summer, hay rides in the fall, and year-round tasks like cleaning animal pens and hauling trash. In the winter, it’s equipped with a front-mount snowblower to clear paths.

The Gator is a true workhorse during the fall season. It’s used to transport food and drinks to the snack shack, haul gourds, move employees across the property, and even collect and dump weeds. It’s in constant use throughout the day, proving its value time and again.

Year-Round Versatility

John Deere tractors and the Gator are more than just seasonal tools at Polly’s Pumpkin Patch- they’re trusted partners in every season. In spring and summer, they help prepare the farm for the busy fall season, from maintaining the grounds to supporting crop care and infrastructure setup. During the fall, they’re essential to daily operations, keeping everything running smoothly through the farm’s peak. And when winter arrives, they continue to deliver by clearing snow, hauling supplies, and helping Polly and Gary care for their animals and land through Wisconsin’s toughest months.

A Farm That Grows With the Seasons

Since building their commercial facility in 2006, Polly and Gary have expanded their offerings while staying true to their roots. With around 24 part-time employees during peak season, their operation is a testament to how John Deere equipment supports farms of all sizes every day of the year.
